Da Mission 2019

Da Mission 2019

From Kaylee Johnson

I am fundraising to go on a month long missions trip to El Salvador with G.O.D. international. This trip will be focused on learning the needs of the Salvadorans and serving them based on those needs: the kids & adults!

Since I was 15 years old, I felt the desire to serve people with my entire life. After learning more of the Bible, I realized that what the Lord has called me to do is to serve the poor, the orphans and the widows. This love doesn't exclude anyone, rather my focus is on helping those who have no one to fight on their behalf. I desire to serve those who have no voice in the world, those who are broken and hurting, and those that are around the world.

As a young woman, all I wanted was to serve those in Ethiopia, and in 2016 I got the opportunity to serve those that I had been praying for and learning about for five years. This was a special trip because my eyes were opened to the people and their needs. I knew that I couldn't unsee what I saw and that I had to do something about this. My response was to go to school, to be educated in the word of God, and gain practical skills that will bring life to those in the third world.

For the last two years, I have been a full-time student at the Institute for Global Outreach Developments, here I have been working on my biblical studies and community development degrees. Through the classes that I have gone through, I have learned about the Lord's character and his heart for the poor and the needy, the orphan and the widow, and the sick and the broken. I have also learned about how he wants to bring life and restoration to these people, but this can only be done through his people. He needs me, my friends and those that are his to be advocates for those who don't have one.

This summer, I have the opportunity to go and serve in El Salvador. This trip will be done through my school and will count as credit for my degree. Even though this is part of my education, this trip will be full of life-giving activities such as; kids camps, soccer camps, worship nights/bible studies, and work alongside the people. The most exciting thing about this trip will be the exposure to the people, their culture, and their needs. I look forward to this trip because it is going to help me learn their needs, open my eyes to the people, and bring life to those that we are serving.

Thank you in advance for donating to this trip. I couldn't do this without you! Also, thank you for praying for me during this journey!
