THE STORY

Curtain Up! is a documentary that follows a group of raucous elementary school kids in Chinatown as they prepare for a production and discover themselves. Behind the scenes, they face families’ expectations and uncertainties post-graduation.

Will they have to let something go?

In slightly over the hour, this film unveils dilemmas from their honest – often humorous – perspectives.

Our film team spent over eight months with these kids, including traveling with them to Atlanta for the most recent edition of the Junior Theater Festival in January, up to their recent premiere of Frozen Kids in June. Not only have we been able to document their enthusiasm on stage, we've also connected with their families at home and followed their lives behind the scenes. We have just wrapped up post-production and are psyched to share the film with the rest of the world.

This is Curtain Up!'s second round of crowdfunding. Our first Kickstarter campaign ended in October, where we raised several grand which went primarily toward color correction, original music composition, sound mixing, animation, and other technical enhancements.

In this new campaign, we hope to raise money for submissions to film festivals around the world.

If you have specific queries on how funds have been and will be used, feel free to reach out to us.
