** ANNOUNCEMENT **
This Fundly is officially canceled. I, Jason, the Fundly’s creator, will be initiating refunds of ALL contributions immediately, beginning today, August 6. I need to stress however that I am NOT in possession of any of these funds. They were collected by the transaction processing site Stripe and it is they who will issue the refunds. Not a penny of them was direct-deposited into my bank account. All I can do is click the “Refund Payment” button for each of them in my Stripe Dashboard and hope they are processed promptly. Any donations made to me through PayPal will also be refunded immediately, although PayPal, like Stripe, is in control of over how quickly they are disbursed. I realize this is a hassle and/or a waste of time for each of you, possibly involving stress over online transactions, and for that I am sincerely sorry. You have my personal phone number and you can reach me with any questions or concerns as we work through the refund process. I reached many of the donors through Pinside, and I can of course be reached there.
Hi, SS Billiards patrons/supporters/friends!
Many of you know SS is poised to celebrate fifty years in business. The owner, Lloyd Olson, will be hosting a customer-appreciation party on September 20th, noon to midnight, to mark the occasion. I would like, through this Fundly crowdfund, to cover his expenses for this party, as a token of the community’s appreciation for SS. Not surprisingly, Lloyd’s business has been affected for the worse by the pandemic, and the timing for an expensive party is obviously terrible. I have never discussed with Lloyd his day-to-day expenses, nor do I know his budget for the party, but I thought a funding target of roughly $900 made sense - $600 for food/drinks, $200 to cover his loss of revenue for the day, and another $75 to offset this crowdfunding platform's fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction). If you do make a donation, please be aware that, owing to secrecy, donations will not land in Lloyd’s bank account immediately. I can’t ask him for that info without his discovery of this funding effort. Instead, I will collect the funds – all of which can be monitored on Fundly by anyone interested – and then transfer them in their entirety to Lloyd. I’m happy to provide any donor with whatever information he/she requires about me as a steward of the donations, including a photo of my driver’s license. You might even ask Lloyd himself, as he would certainly vouch for me, although if you do you might take care NOT to mention this Fundly. I don’t actually know when the ideal time would be to present Lloyd with the funds – a week or two prior to his party, on the day of, on the day after? I would appreciate some input on that. I won't be advertising/promoting this Fundly in the normal, crowdfunding way, as secrecy is important. I will instead have to reach out directly to people I know in the hobby, via email and Pinside, in the hopes that we can reach our goal through word of mouth alone. If you are a friend/supporter of Lloyd, I hope you will make time to stop at his party, but please also consider joining this campaign so that Lloyd won't have to pay for it himself. That seems only fair to Lloyd, in light of all he's done for the pinball hobby over fifty years.
