I started CrossFit Hell’s Kitchen (CFHK) in 2010 after years of work in the fitness industry. I saw the potential that CrossFit offered to provide a community-oriented, challenging and effective program that could change people’s lives. Over the years, I've worked and sacrificed and have produced fitter, healthier, more confident individuals alongside lifelong friendships, marriages, and even babies (we’re up to 3 and counting!). When our members travel, they find our T-shirts hanging in gyms all over the world, and tell story after story of running into CrossFitters thousands of miles away who know our gym and who know me by name. There is truly no other gym like it in New York City.
The year we opened our doors, we were one of three CrossFit gyms in the city. Nine years later, we are one of over forty. As demands for higher-end facilities increase and general choice expands, we have been forced to make tough decisions about location, pricing, and services. As a result, we moved one year ago to a larger space that provided the possibility for real growth and expansion as well as a significant investment of resources.
The build out costs have exceeded expectations and budget. To finish our new space requires an additional investment of $125,000, and we raised $75,000 from our member base. This is a testament to the strength of our community.
I, we, CFHK are in a jam, as $125,000 more is needed to finish the renovations, locker rooms, showers, building olympic weightlifting platforms, and finalize the warm up area. We have a committed contractor and plumber as well as the equipment we need to finish the space, and so I am turning to the Fundly community for the additional financial support.
Anything and everything gets one step closer to our goal.
