Dear Donor,
This is a time of great uncertainty and anxiety. On March 4, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a State of Emergency to help our state prepare for a broad spread of COVID-19. This is surreal because this is the first time most of us have ever experienced a global pandemic.
Since this declaration, public events have been canceled, nonessential businesses and school have closed, and we are advised to follow safety guidelines by practicing social distancing. As a result of safety and caution, this has drastically changed our lives. It is negatively impacting the economy causing people to lose their jobs and businesses may not recover from this.
Parks have closed, which means the bathrooms that our homeless community once accessed, are also closed creating a larger health issue.
Unlike other wars, our soldiers are frontline healthcare workers and first responders battling the COVID-19 pandemics and risking their lives for us. They are our s/heros, and currently they do not have the right tools and/or equipment to protect themselves.
We are not all in this together until we have equity in our system. Until then, we know that those already vulnerable and struggling in our communities will suffer even more during this disaster.
So far we have donated 30 Face Shields and 30 Face masks to St. Mary's Health care workers, but there is alot more to do.
We have also provided many families with food and basic necessities but the need is getting bigger by the day and we need your help!
The goal of this fundraiser to:
1) Feed it Forward by providing basic food and necessities to our homeless community members by providing them with care packages, that include a blanket, a mask, hand sanitizer and food items.
2) Provide Face Masks and hygiene kits to homeless members of our community.
2) Provide protective gear such as Face Mask and Face Shields to Mary's Medical Center staff and first responders.
Once we have provided the necessary protective gear to St. Mary's front line health care workers, we will work with other hospitals in Long Beach and first responders such as fire departments and law enforcement.
100% of all donations will cover the cost of groceries and delivery, face masks, and face shields.
Fundly and our payment processing also takes a % of the donations. NONE of the funds are used for any operations of the non-profit. All donations will be listed on www.lbunited.com and on this page to express our gratitude of your generosity.
We truly appreciate your support and are committed to our Long Beach Community.
