Corazon Animal San Francisco

From Scott Bryan Urquhart

Hello friends! We are an independant animal sanctuary in Chiapas, Mexico, and we are desperately in need of financial assistance for many things in relation to our shelter and those that live in the neighborhood.

Update #5

We at Corazon Animal San Francisco have partnered with the Lazy Loop Cats NFT team of kickass philanthropists who are in the process of putting their newest collection, Pixel Loop Cats, onto the Gamestop NFT Marketplace!

A portion of the proceeds and royalties for a period of time will be of tremendous help for all the doggies here at our shelter.

Such an opportunity is a blessing for us and we are so grateful for the people who have made this all possible!

Long live the animals! Long live transparency!
Long live investor activism!

Many thanks to you all who have stumbled across this page, we welcome you with open arms, “here is your home.” We are an independent canine sanctuary (with some cats) in the heart of the Mexican state of Chiapas, just a dog hair outside of a city known as San Cristobal de Las Casas. Nestled in the mountains, Corazon Animal San Francisco is home to an ever-fluctuating amount of our four-legged amagitos. Here, we strive to give these animals the life that they so deservingly need, and we seek to ask for your assistance.

Every day at the shelter is demanding yet rewarding, the love and affection from these dogs is incomparable. There is always so much work to be done, from unleashing the dogs and preparing their morning breakfast, collecting and chopping firewood, picking up many, many, many pieces of dog poo, maintaining the land as well as the structures, to getting everything together that is necessary for getting dinner ready for all the pups.

As far as feeding goes, we are provided with some meat by the local butchers here that we use with vegetables, dog food, and rice when it is affordable, otherwise they get pasta with the mix. It takes quite a bit of food to feed all the doggies, and a bit of patience as well; the excitement is uncontainable! In order to cook the food, we use a fire that needs constant stoking throughout the day with wood scavenged from the land and chopped with half an axe.

Water is a must for cooking the food, and we get it driven to us and pumped into our water tanks whenever we're nearing empty, and it's currently the dry season!

Those who volunteer here are provided with residences on the property to stay in, and we hope that we can finish construction on one more cabin as well as begin to build a couple more for future volunteers. Food is communal, and we have meals as an ephemeral family of sorts, usually with tortillas of course!

When it’s time for a change of scenery, the peak of El Mirador is a short hike away from the shelter, and there is also a Temescal up the road, a sweat-lodge so to say.

As with having a plethora of dogs, illnesses, infections, parasites, and other afflictions often happen. Currently, one of our pups, Chewy, has TVT and needs a lot of chemotherapy and is quarantined away from the rest of the doggies. A few other amagitos here have things that they could get operated on, like growths, or lumps. Some dogs have mild rashes or minor infections that we tend to and do so as we can afford.

Please understand that all these animals receive so much love and care, it's terrible, but we have to allot our resources to the highest of concerns, like when Hercules' arthritis was acting up, or when Whampy also had TVT or when Dobby was attacked by half the pack here.

At this time, TVT is on the streets of San Cristobal de Las Casas, and a few dogs that are a part of the community near our shelter have this type of cancer. It must also be noted that whether these dogs have owners, it is very likely that they will not be able to be helped unless we provide such relief; which we are going to do.

We have access to land that we can extend out to, but we don't have the means to currently do so. One idea is to build a quarantine zone, which at the moment is very much needed, for the dogs that have succumbed to illnesses as to keep them from the others. While Chewy is away from the rest of the pack, he is still near and is only separated by a chain link fence. For future pregnant dogs, we desperately require the means to build them such an area as well.

Aside from the dogs, we have two cats here that venture onto the property when the pups are sleeping. When things have settled down a bit, we would like to build them a rooftop home of sorts, out of reach from the dogs, along the fence line.

A little goes a long way here, and we appreciate any help we can get! I don't know how this site works, but if you want to see where your donation went, we are more than happy to share photos of the grace that you provided for all of these amazing animals! If you are unsure about using Fundly, there is a Walmart here in San Cristobal de Las Casas where you could donate goods by ordering online and us picking up the item/s, which if done, we will make note of what we have received below this paragraph.

Again, Many thanks!
