Update #2

Was hoping to have a picture in the mail of Copeland riding the new bike you all made possible through your generous donations. The bike did finally arrive last Tuesday. I wish that I had of grabbed my cell phone to capture how excited he was to open the box, but we just spontaneously opened it after the UPS man delivered it to our back patio. He was so excited he started jumping up and down! Unfortunately, the bike was damaged and Jerry was not able to put it together because of a hinge that is not functioning properly. The box appeared to have some damage so he suspects the damage may have occurred during shipping. Jerry has been in contact with the company and sent them pictures. We are just waiting now to hear back from the company to see how to proceed. We are really looking forward to being able to send you pictures of Copeland riding the bike soon and are praying for a speedy resolution to this problem.

More Info

This year for my birthday I am raising money to purchase a special needs bicycle for my grandson Copeland who has an autism diagnosis. During Copeland's physical therapy last summer, his PT worked with him on a specially designed bike that enabled him to ride a bike for the first time! I captured those first moments on the attached video which you can view using the following password:   Cope's-Hope

Fast forward the video to 1:30 minutes and you will see the joy he found in the experience that has prompted me for the last 8 months to doggedly pursue acquiring the PT recommended bike for him. Unfortunately it cost $2,000 and none of the charitable foundations suggested by the PT have been able to provide assistance.  As I have continued to research possibilities, I found a similar special needs bike online produced by Worksman Cycles that we can purchase with the additional amenities he will need to utilize the bike for about $750 with shipping cost. The purchase of a bike Copeland can ride will provide him with the opportunity to know the joy you see in the video regularly, an enjoyable form of physical exercise that will provided further increase in his motor skills acquisition, as well as enable him to participate socially with peers and family biking outings. It would be impossible for me to express in words what your help would mean towards providing my grandson with what you can see is pure joy for him. Nevertheless, I do thank you for any contribution you can make for Cope's Hope!!!
