I’m raising money to run the Dopey Challenge, a 48.6 mile race. Running has given me the strength to begin eating disorder recovery, so it would mean the world to take on this endurance challenge.
Running has changed my life in more ways than I can ever say.
I was at the lowest point in my life when I began to run to relieve stress. I’ve struggled for ten years with an eating disorder and substance abuse issues, and I’d just cancelled my wedding to my partner of five years. A relatively new friend suggested I run a 10K with her, and my life was forever changed.
Running has given me the strength it takes to continue to pursue health and to make positive changes in my life. In less than a year, I’ve gone from being unable to work a full day on my feet without passing out to running a marathon. I’ve re-enrolled in school and moved into a place of my own. Running has brought center to my life.
I want to run this challenge to prove to myself that I have what it takes to do hard things. I want to continue to tackle things I thought would be impossible.
I’ve asked for $650 to go towards the cost of the race itself and the registration fee. Travel expenses and preparation will be covered by me. I will do everything in my means to make this a possibility and would deeply appreciate anything anyone wants to put towards helping me realize this dream.
