Who is Volodymyr?

Volodymyr “Vovka” Kens is a Ukrainian missionary currently serving with Youth With a Mission Kyiv and has been working in the media department for the last 4 years.

Vovka’s passion is storytelling through video and film. He believes that telling stories of God’s truth can bring the Kingdom here. Right now, he is faithful to his calling by supporting the life-transforming ministries and schools of YWAM Kyiv through video advertising and communications. In addition to video production, Vovka is also a photographer, designer, and the base web developer.

You can view a sample of his work here and here.

The Need

Since even before his time as a YWAM staff, he has been using his old computer to create videos and other projects. It would often crash in the middle of a process or while rendering a video, resulting in hours and hours of work lost. As his roommate, I’ve seen it. Many times.

Unfortunately, that computer has finally given up. It’s not just broken, but has even been deemed irreparable.

No computer = No videos = No ministry

This is where we you can be part of the mission. In order to tell God’s stories, in order to do what God has called him to do, Vovka needs a new computer!

After hours of research, we found that the Alienware Area-51 Laptop by Dell would be best for Vovka’s work in video production. The price? $2550 USD.

Why This Model?

As a videographer, Vovka needs a high-spec computer to handle the load of content creation. Most run-of-the-mill computers are simply not capable of the heavy-duty video production that Vovka’s ministry requires. The Alienware Area-51 Laptop not only has the processing power and graphics capabilities needed for video production, it is also “future proof.” We’ve all experienced slow computers. With age, all devices tend to become slow and sometimes even unusable. Unlike comparable laptops, this model is designed to be opened and uses replaceable components. Instead of buying a whole new laptop in the future, the parts can just be upgraded as needed.

A new computer will not only allow Vovka to resume his current duties, but it will also enable him to be an even more effective storyteller. Without losing hours and hours of work on every project, he has more time to produce even more content.

Using Vovka’s personal savings, the amount needed to be raised is only $2000 USD more for the computer, taxes, and fees.
