CORE and BTSA will continue our joint street outreach efforts as well as our separate efforts. The remaining funds will be split between Occupy/Black Thistle (one entity) and CORE for outreach supplies. If you want to continue to support either group, please email us if the below info does not work for you.
CORE has a Cash App/Venmo. Occupy/BTSA is working on getting a venmo, currently they only have a PayPal. All info is listed below. In addition to this we have figured out the amazon Wish list shipping shenanigans. This will continue to support both groups

Grassroots organizations throughout Lane County who share their home with many unhoused neighbors have been providing vital support to their community collectively, including but not limited to prepared meals, mobile medical care, harm reduction supplies, essential outreach, financial support, and grocery deliveries.
In the midst of raging wildfires, their unhoused neighbors are at the highest risk, and in need of any and all kindness that can be shared with them.
NOTE: We can't access the funds from this fundraiser immediately. Payouts are only available on a weekly basis, and we have yet to reach that threshold - we'll be able to access funds on the 16th, according to customer service.
CORE has spent $8,093 since we started this campaign getting folks in hotels and meeting critical needs of their community. I'd ask that you share some of your ongoing support here:
CORE's Venmo: @Core-Eugene
CORE's CashApp: $COREEugeneOR
Your funds will go to helping this community evacuate, replace their lost and ravaged essential supplies desperately needed for their survival, continued and additional medical care, food, and with any luck, hotel rooms for in safer spaces
You can donate to CORE's Venmo or CashApp directly, and those funds will be available immediately to support needs as they arise, and distributed among CORE's community of folks involved in providing mutual aid in this crisis! This joint fund will be split between CORE and Black Thistle. Black Thistle Street Aid is Occupy Medical's Outreach Team. Black Thistle, CORE and Occupy all team up weekly to aid their recent partnership to supply medical care, basic survival supplies and harm reduction supplies to our unhoused neighbors
Lane County Mutual Aid Network (LCMA) is also accepting donations at their donor box https://donorbox.org/lanemutualaid-fundraiser. These funds will go towards fulfilling requests for financial support from Lane County community members who need help with essential expenses including rent, utilities, medical costs and more. LCMA received over $100,000 in requests in August, mostly from BIPOC families and individuals, and has only been able to meet about 5% of that need so far with donations to our donor box and grants from the NAACP. We know that there is a lot more need out there and that people will be needing even more support in the aftermath of the fires. Update:
Our AGI in Eugene has improved significantly over the last week, the smoke started clearing on 9/18. On Monday a majority of our hotel peeps exited due to Red cross opening a shelter and the smoke conditions improving. Thankfully the rain helped a lot with that. On
Monday we still had 18 people in hotels and slowly over the last week most of them are exited. We still have one that is in a hotel until they go into permanent housing which should be fairly soon!!!!!
Check out our transparency doc if you haven't already. (https://linktr.ee/blackthistlestreetaid)
To date we spent $22,739.28 and raised $24,189.40; this includes fundly, venmo, cash/check and cash app (as of 9/18/2020). Our transparency document should be updated again shortly to reflect our most recent expenses and donations. As a group we will be looking at what to do with the remaining funds, since most of the funds were spent on hotel support we will most likely be using the rest for winter survival gear; tents, tarps, sleeping bags, hand warmers, etc. Most of these things are expensive and hard to get donated.
Some of you have reached out about the amazon wish list (we may create a new one). If you would like to purchase something off of it, please feel free to reach out to us via email ([email protected]) or (blackthistle.str[email protected]) and we can give you the CORE or BTSA Address.
For those of you who love data we have some stats to share with you.
Hotel Support Demographics
*We sheltered 44 people, in 24 different rooms and 4 different hotels.
*Provided 848 meals to 55 people in hotels and on Street Outreach.
*38 were young people under the age of 25
*16 were evacuees
*16 were medically fragile
*3 were pregnant
*4 were families
*Provided medical services to 29 people
*6 restaurants around Eugene helped us cook meals
*8 farms (many were evacuated) donated hundreds of pounds of produce/ingredients
Again we could of not done this without all of you! We cannot thank you enough for the support. Thank you again.

[Long and bittersweet update]
Tonight is bittersweet, Its our last night doing dinner support to hotels and tomorrow is the last day for most of the hotel peeps. We put 43 people in hotels, most of them were able to stay over a week. In addition to this be provided meal support since 9/12/2020 for 12 other people who were in hotels; some were evacuates and, some were just people we encountered.
Throughout this process we have developed new partnerships, built on current collaborations, been able to develop deeper relationships with the people we serve, and it has been blatantly obvious that there is a lack of a safety net for folks who need services the most. There is still a lot of work to be done, and we need to do better!!!
Truly we couldnt have done this without our community. We can’t describe how thankful we are for party downtown they cooked a majority of the meals and helped introduce us to critical other restaurants and food sources.
Most of the farms were evacuated and still donated hundreds of pounds of produce. Thank you to Organic Redneck, Pk Pastures, Friendly Street Market, Moon Dog Farms, Hummingbird Whole Sale, Loud Pond farm, and Ginger roots for donating ingredients.
Restaurants in Eugene have already been hit hard due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this Hey Neighbor, Erins Table, Morning Glory, Noisette Bakery, Laughing Planet, Party Downtown and How to cooking school all stepped up and volunteered to cook meals for the folks we had in hotels and street outreach efforts. Over the last 10+ days they cooked 750+ meals.
Some of our community members: Steve/Susan, Ethan, and Carly + her comrades all helped us make over 208 amount of snack packs
Our comrades at PDX mutual aid, Lane County Mutual aid and Stop death on the Streets provided clothes, survival supplies, medical supplies and other resources.
People who donated via Venmo, Amazon, or Fundly, thank you. United Way thank you for choosing us as one of the recipients of the wildfire fund. MRG thank you for always being there for us and talking us giving us advice. Damey thank you for everything and being a powerhouse.
Lastly to CORE advocates Jessie, Brandy, Ericka, Bre, BTSA staff Mackenzie, Dr. Leah Jo, Dr Wiley, Dr. Devin, Brittany, Bridgette, Bex and Sophia. All of you trooped through this week and are just amazing forces of nature.
Works cannot describe how thankful we are for all of you. This work is not easy and we are really just getting started.

Eugene Police Department has now swept the camp at Washington Jefferson Park. For the folks that we have not been able to get into hotels, this is detrimental. For the folks leaving hotels tomorrow, this is terrifying. For the front line worker and donors, frustrating. These people are fighting for survival, without sustainable shelter alternatives.
Please call Sarah Medary, the city manager at 541-682-5010 or Lucy Vinis at 541-682-5414 and urge them to stop the sweeps now!
If there is ever a time to not be sweeping our unhoused neighbors homes and belongings, during the wildfires continuing throughout Oregon, in e middle of a pandemic, as the rainy season approaches, that would be the time.
This is inhumane and dangerous.
We are continuing to support folks with wraparound case management, medical care, meal support, outreach [bringing snack packs, socks, replacement gear, etc] and working with folks as efficiently as possible to navigate the limited resources that are available during this pandemic.
Oregon Health Authority stated that continuing care for the homeless is critical, yet shelters closed in June.
Any support offered, whether that's through contacting city officials urging the sweeps to be stopped, in kind donations, or financial support so that our unhoused neighbors have the opportunity to survive are greatly appreciated. This is a state of emergency for so many, but it's imperative that these folks are supported through this. We'll also offer folks assistance with move in costs, as housing opportunities arise and funds allow.

UPDATE:
Lane County update: Red Cross has opened up a 90 bed shelter for folks in West Eugene. We are unclear on what the guidelines are and cannot reach staff by phone. We plan on going to the site tomorrow to speak with staff and gather information. We don't want to refer people who are unhoused there and have them be turned away. We want to make sure we giving accurate information to people we serve and that our referral is not another dead end. This can make someone feel hopeless, can be frustrating for the person, get their hopes up and is not helpful. People who are unhoused frequently get referrals/resources from people that are not necessarily accurate and have misinformation. We want to work with people over a period of time. and misinformation can damage rapport. According to the city of Eugene IG they have 2 overnight shelters open (capacity 15 and 16 beds) for medically vulnerable folks only, and that disqualifies a lot of the people we serve. We heard a rumor that the city shelters may have closed, this has not been confirmed and we are working on getting more information. We will put it in the update once we are able to verify.
Update for CORE/BTSA/Occupy:
We had to cancel outreach today due to the weather (predicted thunder storms). Tomorrow we are doing mobile street feed (Erins Kitchen is providing 50 hot meals). We will also be doing street outreach 4 times next week, having the pop up clinic and street feed on Friday.
Since 9/10/2020 we have gotten 43 people, 6 dogs and 5 cats in hotels, and are providing meal support to 53 people. 5 of these people have transitioned onto other temporary shelter. We have provided at least one meal a day to hotel participants (around 505 meals total) 243 snack packs, provided on site medical care, prescriptions, wrap around case management services and resource navigation. Some of the hotel participants have started working, or are continuing to work and a few might have housing opportunities. All of the people we are serving are resilient, kind, brave and continue to persevere through every obstacle that gets thrown their way.
Most of our folks will be exiting hotels on Monday 9/21/2020. This will be a heavy day for all of us, this was never met to be a long term solution but it still is weighing heavy on all of our minds and hearts. The smoke is gone for now, today was the first day the AGI was close to normal. It started raining last night and it has been raining heavy, on and off, we anticipate the rain might ease up a little bit next week. We will continue to put folks into hotels on a case by case basis. We will be also be purchasing outreach/survival supplies (especially winter gear which can be expensive) and in some cases things like housing fees, IDs, birth certificates, etc. people need to meet their goals.
We are honored we have gotten this chance to work with people and hopefully will continue to work with these people we got to meet over the last week and a half. We want to thank all of you who have donated, shared this fundraiser and supported us, truly we could have not done this work without any of you. We are almost to our goal of $25,000.00! Transparency document to come soon.
In Solidarity,

I promise I'll have a more detailed update coming soon, we've all been incredibly busy, and doing our best to continue to address needs as they arise, and as we're able to. In the past week, CORE has spent approximately $17,000 [made possible in large part through donations on Venmo, and in part courtesy of a bit of flexibility made available to us with a couple of grants] on hotels alone [getting folks into rooms, often $25-$50 deposits for said rooms, and extending their stay through 9/21] while collectively working within our community of mutual aid groups coming together to troubleshoot sustainable ways to help meet people's immediate needs, including filling prescriptions, providing meals, medical care, bringing folks face masks, hygiene and first aid supplies, and more. Right now, we need a moment to regroup and figure out getting folks case management, support to help them sustainably move off the streets, if we can.
We'll have access to slightly less $8,000 of what we've made through this campaign tomorrow, to help get more folks inside for the time being, so please know that your donations are helping, and that we appreciate and need them. <3
For donations that are immediately accessible to us and distributed among CORE's community of folks involved in providing mutual aid in this crisis! For more information and to contribute to this fund specifically, please visit https://donorbox.org/lanemutualaid-fundraiser. Check out our Instagram @lanecountymutualaid for updates about supply drives to support wildfire relief.
It is helpful to leave a comment on your donation; "for wildfire", "for street medic support", etc. If you need a receipt for the donation please email [email protected]

Less than pleasant, but necessary update.
For folks who may have heard that Eugene is opening up spaces for folks in response to the state of emergency in the city, I'd like to show you just what the city is offering.
Absolutely unacceptable.
This isn't being shared with the intent of shaming the city, or to attempt to shine a more positive light on our collective efforts, this is simply to be transparent that this is the primary support being offered by the City of Eugene.
From the OHA COVID-19 Interim Shelter Guidance Statement dated 8/4/2020
"Continuing homeless services during community spread of COVID-19 is critical. Shelters for people experiencing homelessness should not close or exclude people who are having symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 without a plan for where these clients can safely access services and stay."
@occupymedical
@blackthistle.streetaid
and @core.eugene need your support to continue providing direct outreach services to our community right now. Including our goal of providing hotel stays, prioritizing medically fragile and BIPOC unhoused neighbors, and evacuees with no other family support in the area.
AND contact these folks and as them WHY they are in direct noncompliance with the OHA guidelines to continue shelter for the unhoused during BOTH a pandemic and a natural disaster.
And ask them why they have not AT LEAST #stopthesweeps

We can't access the funds from this fundraiser immediately. It's going to be at least 5 days til we can withdraw from here.
Your generosity is incredibly appreciated. We are blown away by your kindness, and truly can't thank you enough.

Wow wow wow! Thank you all for your generosity! In addition to the 30 people we've gotten moved into hotel rooms thus far, we've started purchasing tickets for folks leaving Eugene.
39 meals were provided to folks tonight as well, including meals being prepared and delivered to folks in hotels who expressed needs.
CORE hosted a street feed last night, with dozens of folks receiving essential services. Outreach is ongoing as well, with critical support being offered.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for for your continued generosity and support, thank you so much!
Additionally, I set up an online wish list for supplies to support our community's essential needs, which will be shipped directly to Black Thistle Street Aid, and distributed by CORE and Black Thistle Street Aid.
Again, we are overwhelmed with gratitude, and appreciate your kindness - please be patient with us as we get things organized for outreach, street feed, potential evacuations of folks who have places they can leave Eugene to go to.
We have a very small team of folks and are working as quickly as possible to offer the support that we can.
Your generosity is saving lives, and we can't thank you enough!
