Velma: In late 2012 both my Mom and my Grandma were diagnosed with Cancer. Mom had her breast cancer surgery in early December 2012, and my Grandma who was diagnosed with leukemia passed away in late December 2012. In 2011 my best friend's sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. She's finished her treatment, and is now cancer-free.
I wanted to run in Color Me Rad because it looked like a lot of fun, and it was supporting all cancers. When I had the opportunity to get some tickets, I really didn't want to run alone. I'm soooooo grateful to my Neice, Amanda, for running with me, and am looking forward to the day!!
Amanda: This will be my first 5k and I am thrilled that it is for such a good cause. I know 2 incredible ladies that were able to overcome their battles with cancer and it made them and their families much stronger.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to join the run. It will be a challenge for me but nothing compared to what these individuals must go through- they are enough to inspire anyone to do anything!
