More Info

I am a proud Mexican American who is thankful to have grown up in America and be accepted into Baylor University. Unfortunately, the expenses that come with such a prestigious school have posed financial issues to me and my family. Without being a permanent U.S. resident, I am ineligible for many grants and scholarships and have not had much financial support throughout my college career. I am gratefully for all the support that I have received through the last 2 years but as my career progresses my hardships grow as well. In addition to my financial obstacles, I am also survivor of sexual abuse. This experience negatively impacted my academic performance and lowered my opportunities for merit scholarships. Although this tragedy has caused me much suffering in my life, I am determined to take control of my life and improve in my academics. I want to be a role model for those who might find themselves in my same situation and spread hope in their time of struggle.

I normally dislike asking for financial assistance because I was raised with the mindset of being independent and hardworking. I understand that many people have financial barriers due to COVID-19 right now but if you could support me it would drastically improve my life and be greatly appreciated. Additionally, this past summer I tested positive for COVID and the quarantine and isolation led to poor mental health and made it difficult for me to achieve excellence in my courses this past semester. After all, I am still standing and I humbly ask for support in order to improve my life and my family’s life.
