Christ Church in Monteagle, Tennessee, is the Episcopal Missionary Church Cathedral. During renovation, our workers lost their expensive tools to vandalism and theft. We're raising funds to replace this loss.
Christ Church, located in the Tennessee mountain town of Monteagle between Nashville and Chattanooga, is the national Cathedral of the Episcopal Missionary Church (EMC). The Cathedral was built twenty-five years ago, as an Anglican presence and ministry to Monteagle and the surrounding area. The Cathedral and its members have been well received by the community, by the residents, and by the other churches in the town.
A quarter century of mountain weather has taken its toll on the building, and some of the moisture has penetrated to the wood attached to the siding. Replacing the worn material has been made possible by the sacrificial giving of several workers. EMC member parishes have contributed to the costs involved, and the work is nearly complete. We've included photos showing the before, the after, and the work in progress. Click the "<" and ">" icons next to the displayed picture to see the other photos. The renovation has been a blessing, though we also encountered an unfortunate surprise. Our workers have lost several or their expensive tools and trailers to vandalism and theft. In our commitment to transparency, we notified EMC members and friends of this. While we intend to replace our workers' losses, we did not solicit donations for this purpose. But since so many of our friends have offered to send donations to help us in caring for the workers, we have set up this account for that purpose. We will acknowledge with our gratitude any contributions, because even the smallest amount is a boost to the spirits of everyone involved.
