I'm raising money for Chilanga Stars Football Team in based Lusaka, Zambia. The players have made a great start to the season but are unlikely to continue this form without new football boots - can you help?
Our local football team here in Lusaka, Zambia is called Chilanga Stars FC.
They are supported and financed entirely by the local town Chilanga. The majority of the local working population of Zambia is earning less than USD$160 or £120 a month.
Despite the lack of financial support up to this point, the club has continued to provide results and entertainment for their fans.
Helping to identify local talent and provide employment opportunities for team members. The club also offers a safe haven for vunerable young men and tries to keep them away from a life of crime. In the last few years, the team has helped amateur players join professional top division clubs and even the Zambian national team.
However this club needs your help. The players have worked hard this season and are performing above expectations - so far they are top of league! Getting promoted to the top division would be life changing for these players.
Due to the low or no income that these players recieve and the fact that the club is financially unable to support them, their kit mainly their football boots are worn or even broken. They are currently using football boots from last season which they cannot afford to replace due to rising inflation and cost of living among other issues in Zambia at the moment.
Any size of donation would be greatly appreciated and would make a significant difference in the lives of these upcoming football players! You can follow their story for the rest of this season on Facebook here; https://www.facebook.com/Chilanga-stars-FC-882157681822749/
Can’t donate? Please share. Even a quick share on Facebook can help.
The average share raises $97.
