Update #1

On October 26, 2021, Matt and Sarah Clouse got the news that Charlie, the youngest of their four sons, was diagnosed with Leukemia.

A few weeks earlier, Charlie had sneezed and hurt his back. Sarah brought him to the doctor, and everything appeared normal until his bloodwork came back. The pediatrician had concerns and put the family in contact with Children's Mercy.

After further investigation into his blood counts, the doctors at Children's Mercy broke the news that Charlie had Leukemia.

No words can convey the agony a parent feels when their child's life is in danger and the heartbreak of knowing what kind of battle lies ahead. After speaking to doctors, family, friends, and Matt's place of employment, Charlie was able to start chemotherapy treatments immediately.

The family currently has one vehicle. It is fine for local trips but it is old and will not continue to make the weekly 6-hour round trips to Kansas City for Charlie's treatment.

We are hoping to raise enough funds for the family to purchase a reasonable priced, reliable second vehicle so one parent can bring Charlie to his appointments while the other has the ability to tend to the family's three other children- Hunter, 7, Kolten, 6, and Andrew, 11.

A little more about the family.

Matt is a full-time welder at Rawhide Portable Corrals in Abilene. Sarah has an affinity for the arts and stays busy with their four kids and two dogs in Clay Center.

The entire family has a deep love and respect for nature and the outdoors.
