Katie Travis Barrett lost her battle with cancer on Feb 14, 2014. She leaves behind a husband and 2 young children. Your donation will help put Casey & Maggie through college.
My beloved Katie has left us. She stopped breathing yesterday at her Mom's apartment in NYC and the paramedics were unable to revive her. She died peacefully, without any pain, without any fear, and in her childhood home. She often told me that she wasn't afraid of death, but of dying.
I met Katie in late January of 2004. We had our 2nd date on Valentine's Day and I already kinda knew that I'd fallen for her but was too afraid to admit it to myself. By May, I knew we'd be one day be married. Ten years later, she's given me two of the best kids in the world and I'm a much better man for having had her in my life. Her spark, her spirit, her love of life was infectious. You can see of that in this photo of her, which is how I will always think of her. This is the picture of Katie I have carried and will always carry in my head.
We know you want to help. We ask that you help by helping Casey & Maggie in the future. Think of it as a gift that sits in a closet for years only to be opened on the 18th birthday, with Katie's voice whispering, "I love you Casey. I love you Maggie. This is for you."
