My Academic Venture

I’m currently a junior student at Miami University who is on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In the future, I hope to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist that is sensitive to the cultural intricacies of my patients as I focus on their needs, education, and care.

Latest Update

My academic journey has prepared me for this upcoming study abroad experience. My studies have taught me the importance of discipline and time management so that I can enter the professional field with a great wealth of knowledge for me to draw on. I have been on the President’s list three times and the Dean’s List two times. While being on the executive board of two diversity clubs and a general body member of two more, I have maintained a 3.95 GPA. The clinical and therapeutic communication courses I’ve taken have equipped me with the ability to interact with and value the life experiences of people who are different from me since I have spent hundreds of hours in hospital and non-hospital settings.

Upcoming Event

This Caregivers in a Crisis study abroad experience will allow me to grow in my cultural awareness through cultural immersion. This trip, based out of Miami University’s Luxembourg campus, will include visits to sites like Médecins Sans Frontières, the Luxembourg Air Rescue, the Humanity House, and the Ann Frank Museum. There will be presentations from the World Health Organization and The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) agency. The trip will include both didactic and experiential pieces so that students have a well-rounded view of European culture, history, and humanitarian organizations. I will have the chance to interact with public figures, European students, and local residents since my study abroad group will stay with local families and take part in the Luxembourg campus’s activities. Because I really hope to work with young adults in the future, especially those who are classified as at-risk, experiencing life with this population will help me see the world from their perspective and practice patient-centered care. The dates of this trip are May 16- June 1, 2022.

Study Abroad Fundraising

In order to grow professionally and reach my goal of attending this trip, I have been working and fundraising. The trip costs $5000. This amount will pay for the room and board, credit hours, transit costs, and food.
