Howdy. I am raising money in order to replace my car that was totaled in a collision where I was an innocent bystander. My plan was to keep my car for another year or two until I secured a position with my master's de...

Update #2

Finding a car to get around in that is reliable has proven to be harder than anticipated. Either they are far more than the amount of money I have or they have too many miles on them to be reliable and cost effective.
I have been able to find a reliable brand but it is still more than I have since I am still working on getting gainful employment after graduating with my master's degree financing is not an option that I feel good about.

More Info

On February 10, 2018 I drove out to Sun City for an interview. On my way back home I was to stop and look at a model home at a nearby 55+ residential community because we are looking at downsizing.

I got a little lost finding my way to the model home and Google maps was not doing me any favors. I found the community but not the main entrance. As I was waiting on the private road to get back on the state road a car making a left hand turn across three lanes of traffic was hit by oncoming traffic. Her car was then bulldozed into my car which was pushed off the road.

My car is collateral damage in the collision and now I have no car. Because my car was deemed a total loss. The payout is not sufficient to "make me whole" and put me where I was before the collision.

My car was 14 years old and I planned to keep it another one to two years until I found a steady well paying job. I buy a new car every 15 years or so; in that way I have a reliable car pay for five years and then just take care of it.

The payout for my car is not only below some of the comparables that I have found by three thousand dollars; it is not enough to buy a reliable late model used car.

I have started this campaign in hopes of making up the difference between the money I have received for the property damage and the funds I need to replace my transportation.
