Nevaeh Chavez-Cape Eleuthera Institute Trip!

From Nevaeh Chavez

I have set up this page in reference to an educational trip I have been selected to participate in this January. I attend La Lumiere School, in Laporte Indiana as a freshman in the 9th grade.

Due to the short notice of the trip, I have set up this page in an effort to raise money for my school trip! This is my first year attending a private school, and my mom works really hard and a lot just to do that. I appreciate her so much! I attend La Lumiere School, In Laporte, Indiana as a 9th grader. It is about an hour away from home. With that being said, I have always cared about our environment & enjoy learning about it.  This past summer, I was able to attend a STEM program at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. There, I was able to explore the different fields of science hands on, as well as meet different people with the same interests.

The focus of this trip is marine ecology, and the economic impacts on the marine ecosystems of the Bahamas, along with the Bahamian cultural heritage! We will earn 1/4 academic credit during this time. Activities will include snorkeling, a plastic pollution beach clean up (my fav), invasive species lessons and so much more. We will be staying in dorms at Cape Eleuthera. The dates are from January 4, 2020 to January 12, 2020. However, a big deposit is due at the end of next week on September 20, 2019. Any support is appreciated! I hope you enjoyed reading a bit about myself, interests, and this opportunity of a lifetime! Thank you.
