Canstruction PHL WRT 2014

CANstruction is a unique community service event organized by AIA Philadelphia. Teams from the design and construction community will compete to build distinctive sculptures from cans of food. The resulting structures will be prominently displayed for public view in the Rotunda at Liberty Place from May 10 – 18, 2014. All of the cans of food used in the structures will be donated to Philabundance, a 501c3 charity, at the conclusion of the display.

For the last three years, this team has designed and constructed a can sculpture for vulnerable families in the Delaware Valley. In the last 2 years alone, the Philadelphia competition has provided over 100,000 lbs of food to those in need across the Delaware Valley through Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization. Last year our vegetable garden themed sculpture won the Judges Favorite and People’s Choice awards! We are very excited about this years design – a pop art theme based on the work of Roy Lichtenstein.

This year, once again, the WRT/B&A/Olaya team is donating our time to design, solicit materials for and construct a sculpture.  We would like to ask YOU to be our partner in purchasing the cans needed for the design. We are asking you for a tax-deductible donation towards the canned food purchase. As a partner, you or your company’s name and logo will be prominently featured on the display board.
