Kristie Daly is the Owner and Founder and has 30+ years in the hospitality industry and received a Bachelor of Business administration from Medaille A.C.C.E.L. The different educational programs at Camp Wildkats reflect Kristie's certification training with Fairy Dust’s Wunder-led certification teaching program. She has completed certificate courses from the preschool teaching program with Joy Anderson and a certificate course on early childhood and elementary from Udemy Montessori Cosmic course. She is currently studying with the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine and will receive a certificate of completion in Foraging. She also plans on becoming a certified Master Herbalist through The School of Evolutionary Herbalism.

The Knowledge gained studying the Doctrine of Signatures with the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism has convinced her how important it is to teach this ancient wisdom to children. She has created the camp out of a fondness for foraging and her love of nature and teaching children self-sufficiency through play in nature. Her educational style is founded on the notion that kids learn best by doing and experiencing in fun ways that quickly activate their creative thinking process.

Camp Wildkats has been intelligently designed to be an innovative and fully integrated one-of-a-kind learning experience for preschool and grade-aged children. There simply isn’t anything else quite like it in the Buffalo area. Camp Wildkats provides a rich, nurturing environment that stimulates all of a child’s senses and their natural curiosity and desire to learn. Elements of Magic and enchantment that can unlock a child's playful imagination are thoughtfully woven into every Camp Wildkats experience. This "storybook" approach provides a rich context for active joy-filled learning that builds a foundation for a child's future development on all levels.

As a Wildcrafting Nature enrichment camp, programs are directed towards teaching kids about nature through immersive experiences that build awareness of the natural environment around them. Through specially designed play-scapes and hiking trails on camp grounds, kids have the opportunity to interact with nature in ways that stimulates their senses and activate their imaginations. Children will learn to identify useful native plants, herbs, and other wild edibles on wildcrafting tours. Throughout the growing season, they will also be able to engage in growing and harvesting plants and flowers from edible garden beds. Through creative cooking and art classes, children will also learn to use what they harvest. The focus will shift to building awareness and understanding about the identifying characteristics of individual plants, bushes, and trees in the classroom. These local plants' many practical uses and benefits will also be explored. We have sourced colorful activity games and nature study cards for preschool-age children that encourage kids to learn about nature through drawing, loose parts play, and playing games that naturally activate a child's imagination. At Camp Wildkats, the approach to learning is always kept fun, fresh and vibrant with innovative course materials and hands-on programs that use the magic of fairy tales and make-believe in producing a practical and enriching educational experience for children of all ages.
