Calvin Mars Rover 2020

Calvin Mars Rover 2020

From Sam Dare

Hello there! We are Calvin University's Mars Rover Design Team. Back this year and better than ever, we are seeking funds for our club! Travel to Utah is expensive, and all funds will ease the team member's burdens.

Humble Beginnings

We started last year with two people and a dream. We had no funding, and we frankly had no idea what we were doing. We were one of 200 teams from universities all over the world who competed in the University Rover Challenge. We just missed the cutoff for the competition at the Mars Desert Research Station, and that was despite starting almost 8 months later than most teams in a competition other schools have been perfecting for almost a decade.

A New Year

This year, we have grown the CMRDT into a team of over 75 members. We aspire to be THE thing for STEM majors to invest in. We are still trying to make Utah, and our System Acceptance Review, consisting of a video like the one above, is due February 29th at 2 AM. This year, we are looking to complete the rover by the middle of January and will be traveling for a mock competition. We have invested in new technologies, such as carbon fiber 3D printing, and we are now starting to machine and construct the rover.
