Hi there! I am Caitlyn Goslee- 28 years old, wife and mother of 4. We live quite the fast life. In August of 2019 our life threw us a red flag. I was diagnosed with a high risk blood cancer, Myelodysplastic Syndrome with Excess Blasts. As my doctor put it "This is pre-leukemia, lets get you in remission so we don't have any bigger fish to fry". My treatment will consist of 6-10 cycles of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. In September I began chemotherapy, all was great minus a few mild side effects! October came around and it was time for another cycle of chemo! As I entered the infusion center a woman approached me with paperwork and said I'm so sorry to do this but insurance has stopped approving your chemotherapy medication. Well, that wasn't all they stopped covering. They stopped covering my blood transfusions that I depend on weekly as well. By this point we were up to about $50,000 in uninsured medical expenses for my treatment. With the help from some amazing friends they organized a benefit for myself and my family on 11/11 (what a lucky number, right?!) and we raised a little over $10,000. That itself has mentally put me at ease! We are very grateful for every donation we have received so far! From the meals, kind words and even offers to help with the kids we are so thankful for the people that are here for us! We will continue to keep everyone updated!
