YWCA and Becky's House

For nearly 104 years, the YWCA has helped those facing dire conditions - abused women, children and families living on the street - to find permanent solutions to their challenges, to overcome their barriers and to gain self-reliance. Becky's House Transitions, is a year long program for domestic violence survivors, women and children, which gives an opportunity for mothers to integrate back out into the community, by having the YWCA of San Diego County lease an apartment on their behalf.  Residents in Becky's HouseTransitions are expected to pay a portion of their rent payment each month, maintain employment, and continue saving money so they can take over the lease into their own name once the program is completed.  The program helps guarantee the surviving women to maintain permanent housing and continue their success of looking forward to a better future with their children.

OUR MISSION

Global Equity Finance, a local San Diego mortgage company, is throwing a charity event on July 14th for the 6 families and 10 children who survived domestic violence and are now living for a year with Beckys House, to eventually take over their own lease.

We are looking to recieve atleast $2500 in donation to be able to purchase bikes for all 11 kids.

Why?

To provide the children with the same child hood as your own, and even if you did not own a bike as a child, why not help a child live a great one. The mother's of Beckys House, spend their days at work, providing, and saving for the future, and many of the children will miss out on a 'normal' child hood, many will never get to ride a bike. These children have heard screams, some have seen violence, some have even, unfortunately, felt it. Lets give them a chance at a childhood that every child should have.

These mothers have survived domestic violence, and some near death. They were lucky enough to gain enough strength to save their children from such a life, and are giving their every minute to someday, move forward and finally stand on their own two feet.

Let us give back to the mother's, by giving to their children, a chance to forget the pain and struggle, but a chance to enjoy and celebrate life. We can help them 'ride' to success.

2 WEEKS LEFT! ONLY HALF THE BIKES!

Family and Friends! The time is drawing near, and only half the bikes for the children have been purchased, which leaves us with a handful of kids left without a bike. Please help us reach our campaign goal on #Fundly! You can donate as much or little as you want. Check it out: http://fundly.com/zk3xymhv
