Everyone deserves access to the spiritual wellness & mental health care needed to reach their full potential. The Aura House’s mission is to foster hope, wellness, and recovery by addressing the needs of Black women.
The Aura House aims to facilitate and create a space where mental health + spiritual wellness intersect. Women come together and support each other on their paths of self-empowerment through our programming. We host various workshops such as mindfulness, healing circles, political education, storytelling, nutrition, and more. All our workshops are free, and we offer sliding-scale therapy + physical body healing sessions with licensed professionals.
The Aura House serves Black + brown women of all ages, including -cis, trans, and as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women.
As a non-profit, we constantly need funds to operate. Most of our services are accessible to the public; however, we collectively pay all of our facilitators, healers, elders, teachers, licensed therapists, counselors, and team members we build with. So as we grow ourselves, we find new opportunities to expand our team. There's an urgency to hire more people to work with us because the demand for our services is growing every month. . Now that we are on our way, we NEED more people on this project, as you can see. The monetary funds we receive would help us hire more people to keep The Aura House going.
We are so close to securing a space to host our organization; we are working with a few realtors in the city of Chicago that are helping to make this dream a reality.
Rental properties are at an all-time high as we are still getting over the covid-19 pandemic. We need our supporters' help in securing the first few months of rent so we can support our community healers, therapists, teachers, facilitators, artists, and more. The sooner we lock in the space, the more consistent our programming becomes for black + brown women in Chicago.
