Aight guys, gals, and nonbinary pals, as many of you know I’m moving to England by late 2023. I’m talking to a university over there, University of Sussex, about their Psychology programme.
I’ll skip the sad stuff, but basically I’m finally seeking higher education after some personal struggles and a metric tonne of therapy.
They’re helping me out a ton, I’m currently going to my local uni (I say currently, classes start in August) to get some math reqs for the psychology programme so I don’t have to take a foundation year course and just skip right to what I want to learn. (Which is amazing btw, I’m still blown away by the prerequisites I need. Literally just have to prove I can read a chart.)
All of this to say hi, I need help.
Sussex wants me, they’re walking me through step by step for the application process and everything, and due to capitalism (probably, that’s what I blame all of the worlds problems on tbh but yanno) for international students, I have to prove that I will have enough money to Survive over there. The actual dollar amount fluctuates year by year and rate of transfer fluctuates as well, but BASICALLY I have to save around $15,000 by early 2023 in order to get my student visa approved and taken care of.
Like everyone else, I am Poor. Like, Broke Broke. Luckily, FAFSA and Sallie Mae loans are accepted but I’m not sure how much they’ll actually cover outside of tuition. (Tuition is like, 22k a year but loans *should* take care of that.)
For the application, it’s like 50 bucks which is pennies in the long run. For the student visa, it’ll be $480. For the healthcare surcharge, it’ll be $650. And then proof of study is going to be $12,752. With rising costs and everything, plus plane tickets, passport, etc. It’ll be a bit over 15,000.
So, everything helps. I really hope to get this fully funded in time, this is my dream. I just really wanna live in England, you know?
