Breaking the Silence Book Fund

Breaking the Silence Book Fund

From Janna Leadbetter

Knowledge is POWER. I'm raising funds to purchase and provide powerful books about the truths of domestic abuse to local churches, women's centers, schools, and individual survivors who seek understanding and guidance.

Update #6

I received another direct donation -- funds to be used at Amazon -- last night. Another $50 to the grand total, which is now $270!

More Info

Breaking the Silence for Women is an online community of domestic abuse survivors who join together in solidarity through the journey toward healing. Whatever your own experience, please help us as we share understanding and offer hope.

My name is Janna. I'm a survivor and the founder of Breaking the Silence for Women. Through my advocacy I connect with many who have lived with domestic abuse, which takes many shapes, and see a dire need for continued education.

My goal with this fundraiser is to buy books I know are powerful resources for survivors and share them among women and key locations in their communities.

Example titles are:

Why Does He Do That? Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men, by Lundy Bancroft

Unmasking Narcissism: A Guide to Understanding the Narcissist in Your Life, by Mark Ettensohn

A Cry for Justice: How the Evil of Domestic Abuse Hides in Your Church, by Jeff Crippen and Anna Wood

No Visible Bruises: What We Don't Know About Domestic Violence Can Kill Us, by Rachel Louise Snyder

and more

Efforts will take root where I live in The Midwest, but with the power of internet shopping and direct shipment to assist me, can carry beyond the miles I and my car, Lou, can personally reach.

NOTE: 100% of proceeds go toward the cause--purchase and shipment/delivery of the books.

Update #6

A $100 came by mail today! While it won't get credited here on Fundly, it's a generous gift I'm thankful for, and it's going to help make a difference.

I've been gathering books and have another purchase planned. I'm also lining up recipients. Stay tuned!

Update #5

I've ordered new Breaking the Silence for Women business cards! I've paid for these myself, as they'll be used for more than the book donations. But they're going to tag along with each gift, too.

I'm also working on an order for stickers which will go inside the cover of each book, to reference where it came from and circle women in need back to our online community of support.

Heaps of gratitude to our latest donor, who requested anonymity. Your dollars will be put to GOOD use. Thank you!

And a quick reminder: 100% of proceeds go toward the cause---purchase and shipment/delivery of the books.

Update #2

Looking forward to adding some titles to my Amazon cart soon, as well as watching for like-new books at some of my regular discount haunts. I'll share pictures as purchases and deliveries are scheduled and/or made!

(Pictured are copies from my own reference library.)
