The event will be held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston on Saturday, February 28, 2015. It is a great evening, beginning with a private dinner, for sponsors only, hosted by Luke Russert of NBC News.  Dinner will be followed by the ball which will be well attended by more than 800 guests.  This year’s event will pay tribute to the legacy of Corey Griffin, one of my best friends who, at 27, lost his life in a tragic accident in Nantucket last summer.  Philanthropic at an age when most focus solely on launching careers, Corey will be remembered for his passionate leadership of many outstanding causes, particularly those that serve children and young adults.

Event proceeds will go to the Corey C. Griffin Charitable Foundation and provide seed capital to young professionals in their own endeavors to serve others. The intention is to encourage other millennial s to be philanthropic and focus on the importance of making a difference in their community. Corey was exemplary when it came to helping others, and was an essential member of the Boston Winter Ball committee.  An accomplished varsity hockey player, Corey worked with the Boston Bruins to organize the Boston NHL Alumni Pro-Am Tournament. The event paired hockey enthusiasts with former NHL greats to raise crucial funds for doctors to better understand and treat pediatric concussions, and advance critical research into this skyrocketing health problem. Most recently, Corey was one of the founders of last summer’s “Ice Bucket Challenge,” conceived in honor of his friend, Pete Frates, who has ALS.  The campaign went viral and raised over $100 million for ALS, with Corey personally raising over $100,000.   With the support of people like you, Corey’s legacy of giving continues.
