The Ozark Off Road Cyclists is raising funds for the creation of additional paid positions, to grow the level of trail advocacy necessary to support the expanding network of multiuse trails across Arkansas.
The Ozark Off Road Cyclists (or OORC) is a Regional 501c3 Nonprofit whose mission is to advocate for, build, maintain, and preserve sustainable, multiuse, soft-surface trails. The OORC consists of five branches that support the growth of recreational opportunities in communities across Arkansas including Northwest Arkansas, Eureka Springs, Siloam Springs, Van Buren, Fort Smith, Alma, and Russellville.
Since 1997, the OORC has hosted family friendly volunteer opportunities to hand-build and maintain multiuse trails for hikers, bikers, trail runners, and dog walkers. This year alone, the OORC will foster over 4000 hours of volunteerism across Arkansas and establish continued community ownership for over 50 trail systems.
With increased trail growth over the last decade, Arkansas has gained national recognition for its mountain biking. But, as the trail systems continue to expand into new communities, the need to support trail advocacy has never been stronger.
While the Ozark Off Road Cyclists has positioned itself to be a leader in trail advocacy, to continue to successfully support recreation in Arkansas the organization too must grow. In 2016 the OORC transitioned to paid staff with the hiring of its first Executive Director. The impact a single full-time employee had on the organization was immediate. Projects that previously took months or would have never materialized came together in weeks, and relationships with area land managers and community leaders have only strengthened.
But, to continue to successfully support the growth of multi-use trail across Arkansas, the OORC needs your help. A donation today will go directly towards "more boots on the ground" with the creation of additional professional paid positions to foster additional volunteerism, oversee trail projects, and support the growing community of trail users.
As a 501c3, all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of applicable IRS laws.
