I have been selected to perform with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corp this summer!! Truly a dream come true! First Video: My high school winter guard 2019 Second Video: Crossmen 2019, Drum Corp I performed with 2019
I have been involved with the Colorguard and marching band community ever since my dad encouraged me to join our local spin club when I was in 8th grade. 7 years later and I'm still throwing metal poles and wooden guns up in the air. From there I joined the Lafayette Colorguard and my life was forever changed. I am eternally grateful for the friendships, strength, and sportsmanship I gained throughout my years with that program. It made me into the person and performer I am today, and I wouldn't be where I am today without their guidance and assistance. After graduating I started working as a tech at Woodford County High School Colorguard, this has been a huge educational and learning experience for me. Getting to know these students and exploring their talents as they are growing throughout high school and life has been so much fun and one of the highlights through all of COVID.
If you don't know what Drum Corp is, think of it like the NFL or NBA, a professional sport that competes at the national level against other groups like them. The first time I attended a DCI Championship at Lucas Oil stadium I thought there was no way I could do what these talented individuals were doing. The entire night I was blown away by each and every corp that made it into finals. Every show was my favorite and I wanted to be in their shoes more than anything. Towards the end of the night, The Bluecoats finally came out. Performing their show "Down Side Up," and winning their first-ever DCI Championships that night, I guess it was a sign...
This summer is our 50th anniversary for both The Bluecoats and DCI, this year will be incredibly special since it's our first regular season since COVID hit. And just like everything I am involved in, it is expensive. All expenses are going towards feeding us during the summer and on tour, providing transportation (big busses) and housing every night for 85 days. This is truly a dream come true and I could not be more excited to be chosen to be a part of THE Bluecoats!!
Thank you for you considering helping me on this journey and achieve a dream of mine!
