As some of you know, Bessie Franks suffered a major cardiac event on September 9, 2022. Since then she has been in Critical Condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. Marty Franks, my dad and her husband, is at the hospital with her everyday, putting his job on hold. Blessings for Bessie was created to help fund her medical and living expenses as she will be for the foreseeable, long term future, in hospital care. All donations go to my father, Marty to help him during this difficult time to lessen the worries and financial burdens.
Bessie means so much so many people, she's touched many lives and is a woman who is strong in her faith and left a smile with everyone from her doctors, nurses, coworkers, friends and family. She's worked at Mobile County Probate Court for well over a decade serving the citizens of Mobile County and the City of Mobile. Although her outcome is unknown at this time, her prognosis has improved from when EMS crews arrived at her work. We were told on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, based on her EEG brain scan, she may never wake up.
In true Bessie fashion, she has shown that even on life support, she will have the last word! Roughly a day later, she opened her eyes. She's now been able to give enough small responses that the medical staff considers them "meaningful and cognitive responses" verses the original "simple reflex responses". My father and I are her care team, while I work in Pensacola during the day, Marty is with her so he can track her medical progress, meet the doctors, nurses and specialists. Although only working at my new employer for two weeks, they've allowed me to alter my hours so I can see my mother each afternoon during evening visitation. Bessie has always attracted wonderful, good, kind, and loving people - a reflection of her true heart, and my father and I are so very thankful for her friends, family, doctors, nurses, and everyone that has prayed for her.
If you would like to help another way, we've set up an email address; [email protected] that both my father and I have access to, or feel free to reach out to me on Facebook.
