$1000 Raised. Amazing. Thank you everyone for all your donations.
Nelson Mejia was born and raised in Washington Heights, NYC. Nelson loved music; especially Bachata and the group Aventura. His love for music was so big he started his own Music Company and named it Blanco Muzic. He incorporated his nickname “blanco” because he was light skin. He came across a young man named Randy AKA “Golden Boy” and realized Golden Boy’s ambitions and ability to sing. Nelson started his career in the music industry making connections that would later on open doors for Golden Boy to performs on local radio stations. Nelson even landed an opportunity for Golden Boy to be heard on Pandora Radio. Golden Boy’s popularity was growing. Recently they went on a business trip to the Dominican Republic where Golden Boy was liked and known. The trip turned out to be a success.
Nelson was going through an abusive relationship. He spoke to many friends and family members about his troubles at home and in dealing with an intimate terrorism. He tried to make his relationship work and seek counseling but his wife thought going to counseling meant they were crazy. Nelson's last resort was putting a plan in place to safely exit the relationship with his youngest son. On December 6, 2015, Nelson’s life ended when his wife stabbed him at his home with his kids in the other room. It is no surprise that the media and government in the U.S. and throughout other parts of the world, people focus most attention on the female victims of domestic violence and, consequently, men are the overlooked victims of domestic violence.
An abusive wife or partner may hit, kick, bite, punch, spit, throw things, or destroy your possessions. To make up for any difference in strength, she may attack you while you're asleep or otherwise catch you by surprise. She may also use a weapon, such as a gun or knife, or strike you with an object, abuse or threaten your children, or harm your pets. Of course, domestic abuse is not limited to violence.
Nelson is my brother. He is my guardian in heaven and I am his protector on earth.
I am seeking to raise money and awareness for Domestic Violence against men and continue Blanco Muzic to help artists achieve their dreams.
Thank you for any and all support you can give!
Keeping everyone up to date. While researching to find an organization that helps men find assistance in dealing with Domestic Violence. I spoke with a young lady named Andrea at Safe Horizon.
