Hi friends!

It’s a big weekend!  My childhood friend, Melissa Kepper, is turning 40 today!  Anyone that has been lucky enough to cross paths with Melissa knows her heart for the Lord, passion for helping others, dedication to her family and her honesty as she shares her personal stories with us.

I’ve been lucky enough to be in Melissa’s orbit since middle school.  Melissa was (and still is) amazing at anything she puts her mind to.  My mom always called her my guardian angel because she always just knew when I needed a reminder of God’s love.  We kept in touch after college and checked in every once in a while.  I followed Melissa’s foster journey, adoption journey, and Guatemala journey in constant awe of her incredible light.

And then, as only God can do, he stopped me in my tracks.  2 years after Melissa’s amazing son Silas was born with a rare muscle disease, I found myself navigating the same waters. I had a son born with a similar rare disease.  Wouldn’t you know my guardian angel showed up again!  Bonding over the importance of a diagnosis binder isn’t something I’d wish on anyone, however, Melissa shared insights, support, love, and prayers during a really challenging time.  Nowadays we talk and laugh about a lot of stuff aside from muscle weakness, however, she is still the first person I call when we have one of those “UGH, this stinks” days.

SO!  In honor of Melissa’s birthday, I’m asking friends near and far to help me celebrate her, her Noonday business, and a cause we are both passionate about, RARE DISEASE DAY (which is tomorrow!!).  I’d like to raise $325 to purchase 5 LOVE necklaces from her Noonday collection. These beautiful necklaces will be gifted to 5 special mammas of children with RARE DISEASES.   Mom’s of kids with rare diseases work tirelessly to advocate for their kids, visit doctors, administer meds, learn new equipment, fight insurance, search for trials and educate others every day.  I’d like to gift them the LOVE necklace as a reminder that they are every-day superheroes!

SO!  Happy Birthday to my lifelong friend & SHOW YOUR STRIPES for Rare Disease Day!  I’d appreciate any donation!
