Cabin 27 construction has been completed, and it's been a wonderful place for up to 24 girls during each week of summer camp! We're still raising funds to cover the project, and appreciate your help! (Cabins were re-numbered in 2019; this building includes current Cabins 23 and 24).
Hello.
I am a cabin.
I live in the girl’s village at Big Lake Youth Camp.
I have served to protect the girls that have called me home for their adventure at camp. I have watched kid’s lives be transformed by the wonder that they have experienced. I have watched life-long friendships be formed, new skills developed, and hundreds of girls give their hearts to the God of Love. I have also seen families come together through the joy of family camps and winter camps.
I am tired.
I need to be rebuilt.
Having 10-20 feet of snow piled on your back would probably wear you out too, don’t you think? I have the scars of winters and alpine weather reflected in the cracks, gaps, and holes in my shell. Though I have done my best to keep the cold and squirrels out, I am in need of a rebirth.
They tell me that when I am reborn, I will be two stories tall and have beautiful windows with shutters. When I am rebuilt, I will be able to house twenty-four people instead of the 10-12 currently. I will also have a new heater system, robust insulation, a built-in divider for family units, and more space inside for cabin time. They also tell me that I will have cedar covering my walls! Imagine that, real cedar!
Now, you may ask how I will get built? There is a wonderful community called Maranatha Volunteers Intl. that is coming up to give me a new life. All I need now is to be funded. Will you help me?
Please help me become the cabin I have always dreamed of being.
