Project Description

The Bennett Hill Garden Project is in development with the Opportunity House Shelter in Vacaville, CA. Approximately 6 to 8 planter boxes will be installed and maintained by the shelter, providing training and organic food to residents. Built by and for shelter residents, this garden will provide about 300 square feet of agricultural exploration for residents and other community members. The goal is to raise all funds through donations and small grants. Future intentions include agricultural training, workshops for the community, and expansion onto other areas on the property.

Difficulty

The hardest part about this project is the slope of the hill. There an approximate 10 foot height difference over the span of 20 feet. The planter boxes must behave as a retaining wall in order to stay in place.
