Just a quick update. We are currently working on completing our 30 hours of parenting lessons. We are still working on the video, so if you would still like to be a part of that email me your video clips.
Tracey was diagnosed with PCOS at the young age of 19. What the doctors call your prime years were quickly passing by into her late 30's. She was almost ready to give up dreams of being a mother when Tracey met Brian. Brian - I never felt like I had met the right person to marry and start a family until I met Tracey. She challenges and motivates me to live life, and our life together. Having a family is one of those challenges. We've researched and tried all the conventional ways, but we knew from the beginning adoption would be a viable option.
Tracey - We had talked about adoption first and as soon as we were married we started searching for an agency. We kept running into the marriage length rule and decided to talk about fertility treatments. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts using acupuncture and taking metformin with clomid then IUI procedures with my OB... we went to the Fertility Clinic and they suggested we use a donor egg due to my old age. Nothing can really explain the pain you feel when your beautiful young doctor tells you about your geriatric eggs... I mean, I'm 40 not 80! I continued my acupuncture and tracking my temperature, cervical mucus, ovulation, and so on (I really learned a lot about my body during this past year). Something just didn't feel right about it though... and we had to really think about what was important to us. The answer was a baby. It didn't need to be created using our DNA, and even with the donor egg chances of complications due to my "senior" status still only put us at maybe 40% chance of baby. Adoption puts us at 100% chance of baby. We started looking for the right agency again and after one phone call with our adoption agency, the weight from my shoulders was gone and I was floating on cloud 9 with hopes and dreams of a family again.
The cost of adoption is daunting and can vary. They have already spent thousands on fertility treatments and background checks and admin fees. To give you a better idea of what remains, the agency has estimated a breakdown of what the money will go towards during the rest of the adoption process.
All the loves,
Tracey & Brian
