Hi friends! My name is Becca and I have been involved with Youth Resources for a little over six years. I first joined in 7th grade when my mom made me go to TEENPOWER. Now, I’m going into my third year of TEENPOWER Youth Staff, I’m the President of the Teen Advisory Council, and I volunteer with Vanderburgh Co. Teen Court. Youth Resources is the best of me and so much more. I’ve learned what it means to be a true member of a community through the love and empathy modeled every day at YR. I find myself doing things I never thought I’d do - like speaking in front of 150 people or waking up at 4AM every other Friday - and it’s because the people at YR believe in me. I am a better servant-leader, listener, friend, and just all-around human for knowing them. This year, I’m especially grateful to YR for showing me that there is nothing that true community can’t overcome. We’ve adapted our programming so we can still show up for each other in service and leadership, leaning on each other and sharing the load when things are heavy, and holding each other and laughing through the good stuff. I wouldn’t be where I am without Youth Resources and that’s why I am celebrating today: I want to help make sure YR can continue to connect kids - like me - to friends, mentors, and opportunities forever. Help me reach my goal of $500 so future students can have YR as a place to call home! From $5 to $25, every dollar makes a huge difference. Thank you!
TAC is led by an Executive Committee made up of elected officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Historian) and the co-chairs of TAC’s nine committees. These high school students prepare all business of the Council and foster the success of their member-peers.
Serving on the Teen Advisory Council prepares students for the challenges they will face in the future as college students, employees, employers and volunteers while encouraging them to be a positive force in our community today.
What is YR Day?
YR Day is a 24-hour online party and fundraising event for YR and the people who make YR possible (that’s you). Whether you’re a student, alumni, parent, volunteer or just a fan with a special place in your heart for YR - this celebration is for you!
Now, you might be asking, “If YR Day is a celebration for me, then why am I being asked to give?”
The truth is, the life changing programs that YR provides to area youth are largely dependent on private support. So while celebrating YR’s present and past is definitely worthwhile, it’s also our responsibility to look ahead to future students. Their YR experiences are not yet guaranteed, which is why we ask for your help.
