No chemo this week. I'm on new meds again. My last CT showed more spots on the liver. Not good. So the doc changed my meds. So far I'm taking the new meds just fine. It has the usual side effects: tiredness, hair loss, etc.
My MRI was good news. None of the tumors have grown. Some have even shrunk. Thank God. Only one doctors appointment this week. Last week I had an appointment every day. It was a tiring week.
Oh I had to see my eye doctor and I can wear contacts again. No more glasses. I hate my glasses. My eye site is so much better. Yea.
As always, prayers are welcome. God has given me the strength to fight this cancer. When He is ready for the cancer to be gone, it will be.
As many of you already know, my sister, Becca, was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in May 2012. One of the bravest women I know, she continues to fight this invasive disease on a daily basis. This includes traveling to and from Cancer Center medical treatments (that often leave her with little energy), trips to the grocery store, and cleaning house. All this, while caring for her husband and young daughter, Kimber, a very active toddler!
Although insurance is helping with some of the expenses, she and her husband still have many bills that they must pay. The purpose of this campaign is to help offset some of those costs; so that Becca can focus on getting well. The donations given here are much appreciated. Thank you so much for your kind help and prayers for her healing.
A good verse to remember: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV), "We are hard pressed on every side; but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

I had chemo this morning. My doctor wanted to make sure I was up to it since I was in the hospital last week with a 102.5 fever. But i feel fine and was able to get the meds. While leaving I sold a ruffle scarf that I had made, and got an order for another one. She didn't have her purse but said she would come find me when I had my next appointment on Monday.

Good news from the doctor today. The LP they did yesterday is clean, so even though I have cancer spots on my spin, I don't have any in the spinal cord or fluid. Thank God. So now we are waiting for my next MRI in January to see how the radiation helped the spots that are in the brain. The MRI in October showed about 6 new spots so I was going to get the cyber-knife radiation. While setting that up more spots were found so I had whole brain radiation again. By January we should know if the radiation has worked.
I feel great though. I'm tired most of the time but that's expected. As always your prayers are much appreciated.

This has been one busy week. I have had appointments everyday but Tuesday. I have an MRI today. I know I just had an MRI, well with that one they found the 6 new tumors. Now I'm having another MRI so they can pinpoint where each one is. The doctors will be using a technique called cyber knife. Roper hospital is the only hospital in the state of SC to have the cyber knife ability. It is very accurate. I should know next week what my schedule will be for the procedure. It isn't interfering with chemo, so that's good.
We had the cancer walk last Saturday. It was fun but I sure was tired. Next year maybe we will do team shirts. We had planned to go to the pumpkin patch afterward but I was too tired. And too hungry. So we went to eat breakfast. Even with all that done, I'm still tired. I took a nap yesterday and still slept good last night. Chemo will always make you tired. Add in running around for appointments, more tired. Then add in an active three year old, even more tired, So there isn't any energy left. Thanks for all the prayers. God knows I need them. I received the results of my MRI scan today. The 5 that have been there show no change, no growth. However the scan showed 6 new spots. It looks like I'm going back for more radiation. This is not the report I wanted. Prayers are welcome as always. I won't know for sure what the treatment is till all the doctors have talked to each other and decided what action is best.

This has been one busy week and it is only half over. It started bright and early Monday morning with an MRI. Then lunch time brought chemo. They were very busy so it took a little longer than it normally would have.
Then on Tuesday I had a doctor appointment for my adrenal insufficiency and that took an hour and a half of waiting before seeing the doctor, which only took about 10 to 15 minutes. Then that afternoon I went in for the immune booster shot. Luckily I don't have any more appointments this week.
So that is why I don't have any more energy. And it is one hot day to be without the air conditioner. Our AC has been broken for about a week. Pray we don't have to replace the entire unit. It is very old but hopefully fixable and cheap.

Chemo was very busy today. I sat in the waiting room for almost an hour before being called back. Not a big deal, I had brought yarn to make scarfs, and a book to read, and i had my phone, but its battery was low. Sadly the new went off and the tv was playing soaps. Yuck. Thank God I didn't have to endure much of that. When finally in the chair I finished the scarf I started. It is so pretty, such vibrant colors. It made me think of the magic carpet from Aladdin.
Chemo went well after that and I was out by 3 or 3:30ish. I picked up my daughter from daycare (my daycare is awesome) went home and did dishes. Now I'm sitting in my daughters room praying she is finally asleep. Her bedtime is 7 and she didn't want to go to sleep. She kept getting up and coming to the living room and then the bedroom. So I'm sitting in here wishing I was laying in my bed. But now she feels safe and that is what matters. I hope I don't wake her when I slip out.
Right now I'm having a hot flash. Too young for hot flashes at 32? Not with the surgeries I've had. The cancer is estrogen positive and in April 2013 the doctors took out my ovaries. So now I live with hot flashes. I know there are meds out there for that but that would interfere with the chemo more than likely.

I forgot to put on my sunscreen after leaving chemo on Monday. The chemo makes me more prone to sunburn than usual. I have even gotten sunburned on a raining day, oddly enough. But my energy levels seem to be holding, which is good since my daughter turned 3 today. I have no idea where the time has gone.
My daughter was only seven months old when we learned I had cancer. It seems like that has taken up so much of my time. But that is why you have to enjoy the moments you do have. All the giggles and hugs.

I had the third session of my first round of chemo today. That may sound confusing so let me explain. The type of chemo I'm currently receiving has a schedule of 3 on and 1 off. Meaning I get chemo once a week for three weeks and then have a week without chemo. So today finished the first session of the new treatment. I don't know how many treatments I will have. I think it just depends on how my body reacts to the medicine.
One of the meds I'm getting is a steroid. That explains the weight I've gained in the last few weeks. I started at about 124, now I'm at 129. Looks like I need to start exercising. But I feel good, just tired. Some days are worse than others. Tomorrow I need to get an immune boosting shot. The only side effect I get from that is a sore back for a couple of days after.
By the way if anyone knows where to get caffeine free Dr. Pepper let me know.
