More Info

On June 30, 2019, Brooke was hit by a car (as a pedestrian) causing a spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). She spent 2 months in ICU and an additional 6 months in various hospitals and rehab facilities. Brooke is now a quadriplegic, very dependent on others for essential needs such as bathing, feeding, toileting, mobility, etc. One of the things that she misses the most is being able to take a shower. Seems basic for the rest of us, eh? But for Brooke, it is impossible unless she has an accessible bathroom.  Please help with making this a possibility for Brooke, as she has experienced a life altering event. She continues to stay in good spirits and thanks all that are willing and able to help.

You might ask..."what's wrong with the bathroom in the picture?" Well, it's perfectly fine for someone like myself. But for a wheelchair user, it's way too small. The door isn't wide enough. There isn't enough space for a wheelchair once you enter. The tub is not useable for someone whose paralyzed. The cabinets are not suitable for a wheelchair. There needs to be space underneath the sink to roll the chair up to the counter. With that being said, this project will include some construction. A wall will be taken out to expand the bathroom and create some additional bathroom & closet space. An existing storage room will be used to create this new space. The tub is removed. A roll-in shower is installed. New cabinetry, sink, and accessible bars installed. The toilet is relocated and the flooring is  finished. This is certainly NOT a DIY project and requires expertise in remodeling and accessibility. This is a job for the pros!

So please consider this cause to help a vibrant, young lady (that has experienced an unfortunate event) bring back some normalcy to her life....something as simple as being able to take a shower and wash her hair.
