In 2014 Maggie Doyne took malnourished Ravi in at her school and home in Nepal and saved his life. A little over a year later, he passed away in a tragic accident. All money raised will go to Ravi's siblings in Nepal.
In the summer of 2014 I noticed a little malnourished baby boy in my Instagram feed. Ravi, a nepali orphan baby, fell into the lap of an angel: Maggie Doyne took him in and with a tremendous amount of love and care saved his life. But not only that, she became his legal guardian.
The story of Ravi has forever changed how I see the power of love and with that, social media. I have witnessed the world rallying for this little baby boy.
Meeting little Ravi last year was one of my highlights of 2015. A truly emotional moment to see this blessed little boy smiling and interacting with my kids. His story carries such a tremendous message of hope. We can never underestimate the power of love.
I got a call from Maggie's team yesterday, informing me that Ravi has died in a tragic accident.
My heart is aching. Ravi's loss makes no sense. After all the fighting. Just a day ago Maggie posted a video of him trying to say POTATO.
Seeing the outpouring love on Maggie's Instagram post this morning, I decided to channel my despair into something positive. So, here we are. A fundraiser to celebrate Ravi's short but remarkable, shining life. I want to make sure Ravi's sisters are taken care of.
All of the donations will go to Maggie and her orphanage. (If you'd rather donate directly to BlinkNow, that's an option too.)
Let's show Maggie that her fighting for Ravi had meaning. And that little Ravi will never be forgotten.
(I have been given permission by the team of BlinkNow to run this campaign.)
Not familiar with Maggie's story. Here are a few articles and videos:
