Baby Nash Drew, born 2/1/2018, was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries. On Valentines Day he had heart surgery, and mom and dad need help paying for a hotel to stay near him for his long recovery.
What an amazing journey!
Nash is now home with mom and dad!
He does have a feeding tube which Damien
and Brittney have learned to use like pros!
This is his warrior scar! Love you little man!
Our nephew, Baby Nash Drew, was born February 1, 2018 and weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces. Within the first few hours of his birth, doctors diagnosed him with Transposition of the Great Arteries. In TGA, the aorta is connected to the right ventricle, and the pulmonary artery is connected to the left ventricle — (the opposite of a normal heart). Baby Nash was transported from Maine Medical Center to Boston Children's Hospital and will need heart surgery once he is stable enough to withstand the procedure.
At this time, Baby Nash's mom and dad are without health insurance and will be unable to work for at least three months in order to provide the care Nash will need at home. We predict medical costs to be around $500,000 and his upcoming surgeries in excess of $400,000.
Please consider helping this young family pay for Baby Nash's care that is saving his life, until he is stable enough to come home. Your donation will help pay for his birth, post-care, medical procedures, and the upcoming surgeries, and enable mom and dad to provide intensive care for his recovery.
We will provide more updates as we learn them. Our gratitude goes out to everyone for your generosity in our time of greatest need.
With Deepest Appreciation -
The Entire Drew Family
Baby Nash had a 6-hour open heart surgery on Valentines Day to correct his Transposition of the Great Arteries condition. The surgery was a success, and he will remain in ICU for 2 weeks, and in monitored recovery for at least 2 additional weeks at Boston Children's Hospital.
Mom and Dad need to pay for a hotel in order to stay near Nash and see him every day. So far, we have hit 10% of our goal to help them. Please show your support by making a donation that is meaningful for you, and sharing this post.
I would like to profoundly THANK each and everyone of you for your prayers, well wishes and generosity.
Nash is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday Valentine's Day! He is doing a great job holding strong. His MRI came back clear and his oxygen levels are the best we've seen yet!
Can't wait for Nash to come home!
Today was day 5 and Nash is so strong and precious. He has had a few seizures which the neurologist is monitoring. His surgery has been extended for another week while his condition is monitored and he is strong enough (which I know he is already) to be ready for heart surgery.
