On January 20, 2018, life changed for this spunky three-year old and her family from Murrysville, PA. Aubrey was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a cancer of the blood cells. In just one week following her sudden diagnosis, Aubrey has undergone three blood transfusions, a spinal tap, a bone marrow biopsy and received a chemo pick line for continued treatment.
Aubrey has a long road to recovery, and her parents and family have an equally difficult emotional and financial journey ahead of them. The total cost to treat childhood cancer is estimated to be near $500,000, with most families paying an average of $35,000 out-of-pocket.
As medical bills mount, Aubrey’s parents, Patty and Darren, will need to take unpaid leave to care for Aubrey in the months ahead in addition to caring for and supporting their other two children, Nathan (8) and Ryan (6) through this ordeal.
