Children battling cancer are true heroes

Cancer isn't funny. We know that. There's no right, or wrong, way to approach it, but what helps us cope is to laugh. And it's ok to laugh at cancer. Everyone hates cancer.

Each year in the U.S. there are an estimated 15,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. Globally there are more than 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year. Every 3 minutes, somewhere in the world a family hears the devastating words that their child has been diagnosed with cancer. Over the past 40 years, the number of children diagnosed with leukemia has increased by about 35%. While survival rates for many types of childhood cancer have improved, for too many children, cancer will shorten their lives too soon. Cancer remains the most common cause of death by disease for children in America.

About this project

Children battling cancer are true heroes, and the entire world should be aware of this. Every Child Has a Story to Tell.

"I'm a superhero" is an app where children or their families can log in and submit the story of that child's cancer journey.

The app will convert the story into a visual novel. (A visual novel usually includes text, art, music, voice acting, and quite often attempts to make characters act, displaying personality via different sprites.)

So, the child's cancer journey Visual novels will be available for the entire world to learn more about it in a cinematographic way.

There will be an option to request a hardcopy book and we'll print and ship it for free no matter where you are located in the world

Fundraising for a cause is HARD! Anyone who has ever run a fundraiser knows just how exhausting, frustrating and emotionally draining it can be.

Love our project and our mission? Great! Please don't be shy about sharing our project with your friends. We are counting on the kindness of friends, family and complete strangers to help us spread the word. We can't do this without you! Help us out by sharing our project with your friends.

In a lifetime of dreaming dreams, of falling spectacularly --and sometimes miserably-- short, and at times, blessedly, in realizing some seemingly outrageous goals, seeing "I'm a superhero" come to fruition, and giving it a real shot at making #1, is far-and-away the dream of my life.  Please help me to make this dream...come true.

Right now, how much you donate isn’t as important as the difference you’ll make to our campaign by helping us reach our goal.

Once you’ve done that, it would mean the world to us.

For helping us kick off our online fundraising campaign, we’d love to offer you a special thank you.

You will become our top supporter, and you will be listed on the app's homepage.

Almost all the funds will go to art acquisition, completing characters and adding more background art, and absolutely the highest quality printing, self-publishing, app design, marketing, and advertising.

Seeds of faith are always within us; sometimes it takes a crisis to nourish and encourage their growth.

The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.

Let's keep them smiling.
