Ann's health battle first began 5 years ago when she was diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome; an autoimmune disorder that causes fatigue, dry eyes, dry mouth, and leaves the body more susceptible to infections. In June 2016 Ann discovered a lump on the right side of her face. She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma; a cancer that starts in the lymphatic system. After completing rounds of radiation therapy, Ann was declared cancer free after just a few months! Unfortunately a couple months ago another lump was discovered on the left side of her face. In November 2018 Ann was diagnosed again with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has completed her rounds of radiation again, though she has not been declared cancer free. She will have another PET scan in a month or so to see if the cancer is gone. I wish I could end her health struggles there...
Two weeks ago Ann's left eye suddenly became very irritated, red, and painful. We rushed her to her eye specialist in Atlanta where they discovered she had a severe cornea ulcer. This ulcer has left her blind in her left eye and they were concerned the infection was so severe she may lose her eye altogether. Fortunately, after daily check-up trips to Atlanta and round-the-clock antibiotic drops and medication, the infection died down. However, Ann was not out of the woods yet. The cornea was so damaged and worn down that an urgent surgery was set to have a cornea transplant. The surgery was yesterday and we are hopeful the eye has taken to the new cornea and she will be able to see again.
If you know Ann then you know that she is the most kind, giving, and lively person around! She works hard and is always willing to lend a helping hand. But, all of these health struggles have left Ann very fatigued, emotionally disappointed, and financially strained.
Though Ann is reluctant on asking for help, it is needed. Any donation of money would be greatly appreciated as her medical bills are pilling up and will continue to be.
