Please join us in the third year of our Alley Lights campaign! Many generous sponsors have contributed, and all donations go directly to installing new lighting in the downtown alleyways.
Loveland is committed to making its downtown area a social, cultural, and family-friendly destination. The Loveland Downtown District contributes to this commitment in a variety of ways, from sponsoring public special events to providing business owners with networking and learning opportunities.
During a 2017 Downtown Business Alliance meeting, concern was raised about the lack of lighting in downtown alleys that makes them a safety risk and difficult to navigate at night. The city responded quickly with an inspection of alley lighting downtown and has begun to address its infrastructure in positive ways.
However, there are still ways that individual business owners can enhance the lighting that is already in place. It was noted that the expense of such lighting and installation was a hindrance for some businesses. DBA member Franklin Taggart suggested that a special event be presented in order to both raise community awareness and establish a fund to cover these costs.
In March 2018, the first Alley Lights concert event was held and over $4,700 was raised. The funds were implemented to install lighting in DaVinci Alley running North and South from 4th to 3rd Streets between Cleveland and Railroad (behind Artworks and Associated Veterans Club).
Our Alley Lights campaign will continue fundraising efforts in 2020 and expand the program to install more lighting into other alleys downtown! Contribute now, any amount is appreciated!
