Alexa Turns 40!

From Alexa Lachman

I'm turning 40 this year! And Children's Center is turning 20! In lieu of presents it would bring me great joy if you donated to the Children's Center, a child abuse intervention nonprofit in Oregon City.

Why this is important to me

I was recently elected to the board of the Children's Center and will be participating in their development and communications committee. It is the Children's Center's 20th anniversary year this year, and my birthday - April 1st - kicks off child abuse prevention and awareness month.

Child abuse and neglect are extremely common experiences that greatly affect our society and how its members are able to function, even later in life. I am impressed by the compassion and trauma-informed procedures offered by the Children's Center.Your gift will directly support:

  • community outreach
  • making and distributing preventative community education curriculum and materials
  • providing children with medical exams and lab tests, the results of which can be used in legal proceedings
  • the upkeep of specialized equipment used in documenting injuries and recording forensic interviews
  • providing children and their families with extensive therapy so they can begin to heal

I am challenging my community to show up and make a gift of $50, but please give at whatever level makes sense for you.
