Hi. I am volunteering for Ukraine since the second day of war. Now being on the ground here in Ukraine for weeks now, the expenses and costs are getting way out of budget.
I am based out of the South / East of Ukraine. I help with many humanitarian things. I work with a church and we feed refugees and orphans. Besides that I help with medical supplies and work with Military units. I teach / train them in Combat Medical as well as weapon handling. I also supply them with special equipment they need. For example, I just got 50 Walkie-Talkie and 30 IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit with tourniquets). The Walkie-Talkies are for example for a command unit in the South and are highly needed. Cost: ~$3000
30 IFAK left are for a different unit. 180 additional IFAK for units in Mariupol and surroundings are already delivered.
I work i.a. with the 18th tank battalion and several other units which I cannot disclose any names for, for security reason, and to not make them a target.
Gas is another big factor. I just came back from Rivne (went through Kyiv to pick up more aid) and the trip was more than $250 in gas alone. Accommodation is not even calculated in. And I have 1-2 tours to do per week.
Those are just a few things of the daily and weekly tasks and dues I am challenged with. But I really want to get this going in order to provide more of the more than necessary help to Ukraine.
Thanks a lot,
Add on: The car we need to replace is a car which one of my comrades drove into the red zone. He got insured pretty bad but is recovering. We first had the idea to try to get it out, but spoke again and there is really no way to get to it, since it is surrounded. Now we need a new car in order to drive back in, because we can't use the van which I normally use for humanitarian needs, this one needs to stay here.
And yes, costs are shifting when I drive back into the zone with my guys, but to list it that way is the only way since some of you guys rather donate for one or the other need.
