I will be taking time off work to travel to West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, India in order to interview tribal women for a documentary film project.
The documentary film project "Agamoni" narrates and highlights the development of Hinduism and oppression of women from a cultural, socio-economic, and political lens in India, from the time of the Vedas till date.
The film revolves around the lives of women from tribal communities, the unorganized sector, and sex work. It highlights the stories of those subjected to the perils of patriarchy like witch-hunting, trafficking, and violence within the boundaries of Hindu caste barriers.
The film tries to investigate and raise questions on gendered exploitation at large, and in the periphery of Hindu religion, patriarchy, and in the theory of the sexual division of labor.
