Scholarships for Black Appreciative Inquiry Facilitators

Scholarships for Black Appreciative Inquiry Facilitators

From Sherri Sutton

We are fundraising to raise money to offer scholarships for black facilitators to get trained in Appreciative Inquiry and to use this tool to design future diverse summits in their communities for whole system change.

As I talk to the community about participating in an Appreciative Inquiry Summit and using the process to Discover the best of who we are, Dream about what's possible, Design a plan to get there and Deliver on that plan (or create our destiny), I am asked why we do not have more black Appreciative Inquiry facilitators in our community. My assumption is that people are not aware of the results this process yields and the training is expensive. I have had several requests from individuals to attend this training if I can find scholarship dollars for them to attend. Our goal is to offer ten scholarships with the criteria that if you attend the training, you commit to finishing the certification, which requires you to plan and deliver an appreciative inquiry session in your community. The Appreciative Inquiry training being offered in Tampa on October 21-23 is a unique opportunity because Dr. David Cooperrider will be facilitating in person during the training, it will give the newly trained facilitators an opportunity to attend a city Summit on November 4th, 5th, and 6th, and the new facilitators will have the opportunity to meet Appreciative Inquiry facilitators from all over the world.

A Call for Facilitators will go out and black facilitators will apply for the scholarship.  Applicants will be accepted in  the order their request was submitted and do not have to reside in the Tampa Bay area.
