Brief Background
Hello, faithful supporters of change, my name is Dr. La-Tosha Ellison and I am the Co-Pastor/First Lady at The House of Zion (THOZ). THOZ was created in 2020 by God and handed down to Pastor Dr. Samuel Ellison during the first six months of the COVID-19 Pandemic. For the first year, God allowed THOZ to continue to sit at the feet of some amazing men and women of God. It also allowed the ministry to establish its 501c3 and to meet Maryland’s requirements. THOZ held its first service on August 1st, 2021 and we have been running to build The Kingdom of God ever since. Within the first 30 days, God allowed us to move from a multipurpose room at a school to a shared space with a seasoned ministry. We understood that God was calling us to a bigger place in ministry before we began and we believe that our bigger is now.
We are a nondenominational ministry and devoted followers of The Word of God. We live by His Word and obey His instruction. We adhere to His instruction with care and obedience. God has given the leaders of THOZ a life-changing vision and His instruction on how to proceed. He instructs us through Habakkuk 2:2 KJV which states “And the Lord answered, me, and said write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that read it.” This is a part of THOZ writing the vision and we are praying that those that read this request run with it and give according to how God has instructed you to give.
After 15 months in the shared space, God has allowed us to bless the ministry that we lease from and now we feel like we have completed our assignment at this location. THOZ has been actively looking for a building for the last 1.5 years with no real success. THOZ has been denied countless buildings because they no longer allow ministries in many of the plazas within Prince George’s and Charles County Maryland to lease spaces. We have also tried to purchase buildings but even the condemned churches here can cost $750K and would require a substantial amount to renovate. Despite the cost, we believe that God has taken us from the comfortable state of Colorado to Maryland to fulfill His Will. We are here to serve the community just as Jesus did in Mark 10:45 KJV.
In John 15:12 KJV, Jesus instructs us to love one another as He loves us. Charity is one of the ways that we show love and we are in need of your charitable donations.
THOZ’s Goal
To create and maintain a space where THOZ and the community can worship and help the community at large without the fear of not being able to pay the lease or mortgage. We never want to avoid assisting someone in need because we do not have the available funds to assist.
God has instructed THOZ to pray without ceasing; to feed the poor and the homeless; to pray for our friends and our enemies.
God has instructed us to spread The Gospel to all that will hear Him and to those that will not.
THOZ’s Request
We are requesting the help of this great nation to propel the vision from visualization to manifestation. We need to raise $1M to move forward with this ministerial endeavor. God reminded THOZ in James 4:2 that we have not because we ask not and we are asking for your help.
We need your help to create this safe place. We have been blessed to locate a beautiful piece of land, but the county requires THOZ to show proof that we can purchase the land and build on it. The realtor believes it would cost us about $1.5M to secure the land and build a church on it. The process could take upwards of a year to complete due to inspections, permits, etc. It is a space that THOZ could grow into, and we could truly provide housing and assistance to those in need.
THOZ’s Funding Allocations
Create a place of refuge for those in spiritual, mental, and physical need.
Purchase chairs for the sanctuary, along with sound and office equipment.
Hire an architect and engineer to survey the land and design the church.
Hire an accountant.
Pay the lease and mortgage.
Secure transportation for THOZ.
* As your Pastor and First Lady, we do not draw a salary from THOZ.
